The addition to the new Thames riverside proposals adds 1,300 apartments and houses to the 800 that already received planning as part of Phase 1.

The buildings designed by Glenn Howells Architects will echo the brick and stone warehouses that have characterised the east London dockside area.

Royal Wharf will be built alongside half a kilometre of south facing  riverfront will also include a new town square, high street retail, leisure space and new school.

Glenn Howells, Director of Glenn Howells Architects said: “We are delighted that the latest phase of Royal Wharf has been given the go ahead.

“This is one of the largest and most complex developments in London that will take shape over the next couple of years.”

The first homes will complete in 2017.
