Tom Rigby, Development Director for Rydon, said that demolition had begun at the Green Man Lane estate, ahead of construction in early 2015 for phase two’s 187 homes.
Detailed planning permission was granted by Ealing Council in autumn 2013 for the 126 private sale and 61 affordable homes.
Designed by Conran and Partners, the regeneration will deliver over 700 new homes, a community café, community centre, green spaces and play areas once complete.
The second phase is due for completion in 2017 and plans for a third and fourth phase are in place, with a further 400 homes, community facilities and an expanded local school expected on site by 2020.
David Price, A2Dominion’s Regeneration Director, said: “The Green Man Lane regeneration is transforming a run-down 1970s estate that was previously blighted by overcrowding, crime and antisocial behaviour.
“The plans for phase two comprise a range of one, two, three and four-bedroom properties, including over 20 homes for wheel-chair users.
“Work will also start on building a new public pathway to provide a direct link from the south to the north of the development.”
