Elliott, who is credited with being a principal architect behind the rise of specialist fit-out contractor Overbury over his 19 years with Morgan Sindall, left the firm a year ago.
He is also joined by Paul Newton, the former finance director of Morgan Sindal’s fitout division, as BWI finance boss.
BWI’s owners, Mark Richards and Craig Foster, said Elliott was onboard to grow the £80m turnover London-based firm into a major force in fitout.
Richards said: “We believe Steve’s impressive and proven track record of developing long term sustained growth, implementing cultural change, generating new ideas and growing a market leading brand will hugely benefit BWI.
“Coupled with his reputation for developing and mentoring people, this will offer huge added value to the business and offer great career opportunities as we expand BWI.”
