The contract is worth up to £140m to completely revamp the 29 hectare site which currently has room for 3,251 students.
Redevelopment work is being funded by the Mubadala Development Company with the university managing construction work.
The Mubadala Development Company is owned by the Abu Dhabi government and run by Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak.
Construction work is scheduled to start on site in June 2016 and last three years.
