The design and build job for the new Advanced Manufacturing Building is expected to be worth £18m.
Outline designs have yet to be released but it will comprise of engineered focused laboratory, workshop, offices and seminar rooms and will be required to achieve a BREEAM excellent rating.
The university is a leader in manufacturing research, and already hosts three national centres for manufacturing in the areas of composites, 3D printing and food, funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council.
Consultant Turner and Townsend is advising the client on procurement with tender documents expected to be issued to shortlisted contractors by February 2016.
