PP O’Connor is currently on site with the demolition of Old Trafford Lodge and Development House at the club, to make way for the new 150-bedroom hotel.
The five-storey hotel will carry the Hilton Garden Inn branding and be operated by Lancashire County Cricket Club under franchise. It will also include a restaurant, bar, the Pavilion Pantry serving all-day snacks, and a fitness centre.
The project, which represents the final major piece of the Emirates Old Trafford redevelopment, has been entrusted to Galliford Try, after it constructed the Hotel Football near the Old Trafford football stadium in 2015.
Galliford Try is building a track record in cricket ground redevelopment, having completed a new stand at Edgbaston in 2011 and the new pavilion and residential development at Gloucestershire’s Nevill Road ground in 2014.
Jim Parker, Managing Director for Galliford Try Building North West, said: “We are delighted to have been selected for this high-profile project at such a significant landmark for Trafford Borough and the North West. Our expertise in both the hotel and sports stadia sectors has put us ahead of the competition this time and we look forward to working with Lancashire County Cricket Club to produce top-class facilities and further enhance this iconic ground.”
