The former Speedy Hire chief executive was the chief architect of the a private equity takeover of the two leading plant hire companies.
Since its formation, Ardent has been investing heavily in expanding and updating it fleet. It now claims to have the largest joint telehandler and excavator fleet in the UK and trades from 11 depots nationwide with a fleet holding of around £150m.
In February former Galliford Try boss Greg Fitzgerald became Ardent’s its new chairman, strengthening the management team of the fast-growing business.
Ardent will now start the hunt for Corcoran’s successor.
A spokesman for Ardent said: “The board of Ardent Hire Solutions announces that following the integration of One Call and Fork Rent, Steve Corcoran has stepped-down as chief executive.
“It was Steve’s vision to bring together One Call and Fork Rent and it was his tenacity that has led to the formation of Ardent Hire Solutions. The Board would like to thank Steve for all his efforts and wishes him well in the future.
“The board is delighted that Steve will remain with the business as a shareholder and in the capacity of special advisor and is looking forward to drawing on Steve’s vast experience in the sector.”
