Planners gave the green light for the new school building and sports pitches to be constructed to the south of the present school buildings allowing Sir Robert McAlpine to start the first of four school projects on the island.
The proposals include a new two and three storey school building, with a flexible school layout for the consolidated 1,500 place 11-16 year old secondary school.
Existing six blocks will be demolished after the new complex is commissioned and the majority of that part of the site turned into a car park.
Located near the Northern coast of the island on an existing school site the logistics and site planning was as much of a key part of the scheme as the structure itself.
Sir Robert McAlpine will also deliver three other schools in the local area – Sandown Bay Academy, Christ the King College and Carisbrooke College – under its priority school building programme deal.
