Contractor Balfour Beatty can now start full construction of the secondary school, which will eventually replace the existing Kincorth Academy and Torry Academy. Robertson FM has also been appointed as the facility’s FM service provider.

On completion, the three-storey building will cater for pupils from the Torry, Kincorth, Nigg and Cove areas of Aberdeen offering dance studio facilities, fitness suite, games hall, six lane swimming pool and 3G pitch.

Preparatory work has already commenced on site, with full construction works now set to follow. Work on the facility is due to be completed by mid-June 2018.

George Hood, Balfour Beatty managing director, north Scotland, said: “We are delighted that Financial Close has been attained for this prestigious project for the City after several months of working in close collaboration with Aberdeen City Council, Hub, and our key supply chain. We are engaging with local SME’s to maximise employment opportunities in Aberdeen.”
