The North Eastern Quarter building complex will house the Bragg Centre for advanced materials and imaging and create new homes for the schools of computing, physics and astronomy.
This will involve redeveloping the grade II-listed old mining building and demolishing the estates building and central boiler house. A new five-storey atrium will link the old mining building to the planned new six-storey Bragg laboratory block.
The multi-disciplinary research and teaching facility will provide a new gateway to the Northern part of the University of Leeds campus.
A primary objective of the NEQ project is to provide a development which does not compromise on quality in realising the design requirements and complexities of the scheme.
The University in looking to run a two-stage bid process under the NEC contract with a £200,000 payment to the second placed bidder in stage two.
