Martin McAtamney joins from a similar role at Mount Anvil and he has also worked for Laing O’Rourke and Ballymore
Danny Durkan, Executive Chairman at Durkan, said: “Best value and not lowest cost is a concept that has been around since Sir John Egan’s Rethinking Construction report in the late nineties, but a tough economic climate has meant that many businesses have reverted to lowest cost tendering.
“This approach is negative for all involved and sets unrealistic expectations that are then costly to rectify.
“At Durkan, we welcome the growing drive among forward-thinking clients to involve developers and contractors in the earliest stages of project development as this provides opportunity for a more robust tender response.
“Martin’s appointment is testament to our continued commitment to working in partnership with our clients to deliver long-term value and a holistic approach to development.”
McAtamney will work closely with Durkan’s joint venture partners and external stakeholders to deliver new homes in London and the Home Counties.
He said, “I’m really pleased to have joined the team here at Durkan. As a value-led business they put the emphasis on nurturing relationships and developing a climate of trust with customers and supply chain alike.
“I’m looking forward to the new opportunities ahead and working with our teams to deliver successful projects with our partners.”
