The deal will be finalised next month when Atkins’ 18,300 staff will get new owners.
Results for the year to March 31 2017 show group turnover rose to £2,081m from £1,862 last time as underlying pre-tax profit increased to £164.6m from £139m.
The UK and Europe business delivered another strong performance with a 22% increase in operating profit to £90.4m on revenue down slightly at £911m due to a dip in rail signalling work.

Margins in the UK and Europe business improved to 9.9% due to overhead savings as staff numbers in the UK fell to 8,465 from 8,873.
