April’s haul of 19 orders, worth an estimated £383m, catapulted the firm to the top of the contracts league for the month ahead of Laing O’Rourke and Morgan Sindall.
Its key project win came from the £6bn Meridian Water scheme in North London’s Lee Valley.
According to information specialist Glenigan, Galliford’s expanding partnerships business secured a contract estimated to be worth £154m to build the first 725 homes.
Its other big project win in April was a £53m office and retail scheme, known as Project Nash, at Marble Arch in the Capital for developer Portman Estates.
In the 12-month rolling orders league table, Kier held onto pole position, followed by riser Morgan Sindall and Balfour Beatty in third place.

Among the other big project wins for the month, south east Henry Group is on track for a £100m order at Guinness Partnership’s Imperial 2 development in East London.
BAM replaced Kier on the University of Sheffield social sciences project, which Glenigan values at £71m.
Laing O’Rourke secured the £200m St Michaels skyscraper in the Deansgate area of Manchester for Jackson’s Row Developments – backed by footballers-turned-developers, Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs.
