Oxford University’s Saïd Business School plans to convert the city’s first power station into a world-leading centre for executive education.
The £60m conversion project would see the existing building revamped and given a new facade over existing industrial buildings as well as new build work to provide accommodation for residential courses.
The executive education centre would include 120 hotel-style bedrooms, a swimming pool and a dining room with capacity for 140 people.
It would replace the business school’s use of Egrove Park in the village of Kennington as a residential building for students on its bespoke courses.
It is hoped planning consent will be gained next month for the West Oxford project, with work slated to start before the end of the year.
John McAsland + Partners, which led the redevelopment of King’s Cross station, designed the conversion with London-based Long & Partners providing M&E design with Bath-based Mann Williams on board as structural consultant.
