Galliford Try’s investment arm has teamed up with the development division of Chinese modular building giant CIMC to develop Flax Place in Leeds.
CIMC recently liquidated its modular business CIMC MBS, which owed cash to several suppliers, but is now seeking to deliver schemes through a development arm.
Galliford Try and CIMC previously worked together on a £75m student accommodation scheme for Newcastle University completed last year.
The latest Leeds build to rent scheme covers two tower buildings of 15 and 11 storeys, which will be connected at lower ground floor level with a shared amenity space facing onto Richmond Street.
Phil Harris, Director for Galliford Try Investments, said: “We are delighted to be reaching a key milestone for this scheme in Leeds, which will be the first build-to-rent scheme that Galliford Try Investments has developed in the city.
“We have an excellent track record of delivering schemes in Leeds both as an investor and building contractor and look forward to being able to begin work on site later this year.”
