The “Yer Jerking, Merr Rerd Werks” sign will make its debut on the company’s Holderness Road site on Monday.
It is the follow-up to an “Err Nerr Rerd Werks. Apologies for any delays” sign which went down well with locals when Roche unveiled it on another site in the city in 2018.
Director Daniel Roche said: “Nobody likes being stuck in road works so thought if we can just make at least one person smile on the way home instead of being frustrated behind the wheel then it’s a good thing.
“It also has a serious side as well. As local contractors we get frustrated seeing larger national contractors winning tenders saying they’ll use local labour and then when it comes to doing the job it never ever happens and nothing is ever done about it.
“This way because of the sign, people from Hull can clearly see the company doing the works are local and that every single person working on the side is local including the traffic management company, the surfacing company, the line marking company and so all the money Hull City Council have spent on the contract goes directly back into the local economy.”
