The 10.4-acre site in Fenny Lock is looking to be one of the most sustainable logistics developments ever built in the UK.
Construction starts this month with the site set to be available for occupation by this December.
Among the innovative features to be included in the design of the two-building scheme are the siting of separate ancillary office pods with roof garden terraces, and onsite water attenuation measures as a part of a sustainable drainage system which includes the harvesting of rainwater for re-use on site.
The development will also provide outdoor gyms and training areas, edible vegetation and reclaimed timber seating.
Glencar Managing Director Eddie McGillycuddy said: “This is the first contract that Glencar have been awarded by Baytree and we are very happy to have been appointed to such a high profile and ground-breaking development.
“Some of the enhancements that will feature within the specification of this scheme are pioneering and we look forward to working closely with Baytree and the professional team and seeing the principles of the Baytree Edge ‘Innovation at work’ approach in reality”.
Jonathan Fenton Jones, Baytree Operations Director added: “Baytree is delighted to partner with Glencar for the construction of this unique scheme.
“The commitments made together in our partnering charter will facilitate us pushing further than ever before in facilitating energy savings, CO2 reduction, enhanced working environments and operational cost savings for our customers.
“We are confident that Glencar will deliver an outstanding scheme”.
