Procured using the SCAPE framework, the job will include a new main entrance into the hospital, and a new CT scanning department.
Delivery in a live environment will be a key component of the programme, with the works taking place while the existing Emergency Department is operational.
Chris Tredget, managing director of Willmott Dixon’s London & East region said that as part of the enabling works, Willmott Dixon has created an internal link tunnel so patients and staff can safely move between the hospital buildings.
The project builds on a brace of recent healthcare wins. Willmott Dixon is also on site in Dunstable at Chiltern Vale Integrated Health and Care Hub and delivering a £43m combined healthcare and wellbeing facility for Central Bedfordshire Council.
The extended and refurbished Emergency Department for the Luton and Dunstable University Hospital is due to complete in late 2022.
