Worried suppliers have been in touch with the Enquirer after the £83m turnover contractor’s website went offline and calls to the head office in Hessle near Hull went unanswered.

One specialist said: “They have been a nightmare and haven’t been paying us for months.

“I’m sure they have been paid by the client on our job but only part of that money has found its way down the supply chain.

“We know of a lot of other subcontractors in the same boat as us.”

Firms owed money have issued winding-up proceedings against PDR which has been in business for more than 25 years.

Clients are already looking for replacement contractors.

Latest accounts for PDR show the firm made a pre-tax loss of £354,418 for the year to April 30 2020 from turnover of £82.73m while employing 115 staff.
