The £259m contract will deliver the construction, along with mechanical and electrical engineering services of new storage buildings, workshops and an office.

It will involve a complex programme of demolition of 58 buildings, construction of 12 new buildings and refurbishment of one existing facility, plus renewal of site-wide infrastructure.

The work will modernise the facilities to create a sustainable and safe way of maintaining and protecting British Army equipment and vehicle fleet.

Skanska plans to use modern methods of construction to reduce programme carbon emissions through offsite manufacture of key components that will be installed onsite.

The project aims to achieve DREAM Excellent – the defence estate environmental assessment standard.

Work is due to begin on site in the Autumn, with completion targeted before the end of 2026.
