Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue said some of the cylinders were “projected some distance” from the site in Kidlington.
They said: “Two crews and a water carrier dealt with a large fire involving a significant number of pallets and gas cylinders.
“The fire was visible from across the Kidlington, Begbrooke and A44 area due to the initial intense development and a number of calls were taken by Thames Valley Fire Control whilst crews located the best access.
“The cause of the fire is unknown due to its remote location, but no one was injured during the incident. Some gas cylinders that were involved in the initial stages were projected some distance following rupturing as seen in the picture.
“Construction sites are always vulnerable and keeping items that can become involved in fire well away from any buildings, helps reduce the risk.”
