Production at its BrickWorks plant is set to grow 20% this year while Persimmon’s TileWorks factory is on course for a 40% jump in output.

The Space4 timber frame factory enjoyed a 20% rise in its forward order book with pre-application plans in to build another plant as timber frame was used on 35% of homes delivered by Persimmon.

The growing importance of offsite manufacturing was highlighted in latest half-year results for the six months to June 30 2022 which revealed pre-tax profits of £439.7m from £480.1m last time at a gross margin of 31% as turnover dipped to £1.69bn from £1.84bn.

Persimmon completed 6,652 homes during the period while returning £750m to shareholders.
