Henley Developments in a joint venture with Erith Contractors has secured approval on the first phase of its new district centre at Alkerden Village in Ebbsfleet.

The Ebbsfleet Development Corporation’s planning committee has granted approval for the delivery of a Morrisons supermarket, a gym, nursery, neighbourhood green and 83 affordable homes,.

The latest planning permission is a major step forward in delivering a mixed-use scheme at the Kent site which will contain 1,700 homes and transform the 660-acre former quarry within the wider Ebbsfleet Garden City.

Warwick Hunter, Managing Director Development and Head of ESG at Henley Developments, said: “We look forward to commencing construction on site shortly.”

Declan Cogley, Earthworks and Infrastructure Operations Director, Erith Contractors, said: “We look forward to continuing our positive working relationship with Henley Developments and Camland Projects as we deliver this mixed-use scheme.”

Henley Investment Management in a joint venture with Camland Projects is master developer of the 660-acre site.

Consisting of three villages, Alkerden, Ashmere and Castle Hill, ‘Henley Camland’ is delivering enabling works and supporting infrastructure across the site, facilitating the delivery of 6,250 homes in total.

Construction of the district centre is expected to get underway in later this year targeting a completion of mid-2025.
