Work on the new Orsett Heath Academy is set to start on site this August.
The project suffered a major delay moving to construction as a result of the collapse of offsite specialist Caledonian Modular, which originally was in line to deliver the three-storey school building.
Stride Treglown Architects designed the new 1,200-pupil school with input from civil and structural engineers Alan Wood & Partners and MEP Engineers Waldeck.
The new school will be built near to the school’s interim building, adjacent to King George’s Field, off Stanford Road, in Grays.
The majority of the teaching space will be located within a three-storey block. A sports hall and main hall at the north west of the site will rise to two storeys in height.
