The Enquirer understands that Vilnius based INHUS has been chosen for the car park at the massive Aire Park scheme in Leeds being developed by Vastint UK .
One losing bidder said: “It looked like we were in with a good shout then suddenly the job was awarded to a Lithuanian firm.
“I thought a main upside of Brexit was supposed to be more work for domestic firms.
“We put in a very competitive bid after months of work for the job to then go to a European company that has cheaper labour, low price raw materials, no aggregate tax and lower energy costs.
“It makes a mockery of Brexit when European firms can still come and undercut us but we can’t be competitive on the continent.”
Vastint UK has recently submitted plans to build 421 flats at the Aire Park development on the former Tetley Brewery site in Leeds.
Plans involve seven buildings, ranging in height from seven to 15 storeys at the corner of Crown Point Road and Bowman Lane.
The multi-storey car park will serve the occupants of Aire Park’s new commercial developments.
This follows the successful completion of the first 200,000 sq ft of grade A office space and 20,000 sq ft of retail space on the site in February and the start on site of a new seven-storey, commercial building in May.
