Designed by architect Scott Brownrigg, the new film and television studio campus will be built near Stewartby at a 143-acre site and former clay brick quarry.
The HOP Studios development is a joint venture with Verb – a subsidiary of investment firm Cathexis, which owns contractor ISG – and film studio operator Quartermaster.
The project will involve 11 major studio buildings built between two large lakes created by clay extraction bowls.
The hybrid application included detailed plans for phase 1, which includes 54,000 sq m of stages and workshops and site wide enabling works
Outline planning was also granted for phases 2 and 3 of 38,000sqm of stages and workshops, up to 25,000 sq m backlot, a substation facility, 4,100 sq m overnight accommodation, a 1,200 space multi storey car park.
Director at Scott Brownrigg, Jason Lebidineuse, said: “Linking education to industry, HOP studios create a vibrant campus environment with a true sense of place in order to inspire the next generation and ensure succession for all facets of the industry.”
A transport hub will connect the site to the local bus network with an arrival point for cyclists, pedestrians and coaches.
The masterplan has been supported by Sweco (Structures, Civil and MEP), McFarlane + Associates (Landscape), Lichfields (Planning), RSK Wilding (Environmental) and DLP (Transport/Highways)
