Crane owner Falcon Cranes said: “It has been reported to us that the jib of one of our luffing jib tower cranes collapsed overnight at a construction site in Acton.
“The crane was not in operation at the time and there are no reports of injuries or structural damage to other property.
“We will be conducting a thorough investigation of all immediate and underlying causes of the collapse.”
The crane was working on Durkan’s job for Network Homes to build 158 affordable homes near Central Middlesex Hospital in London’s Old Oak and Park Royal regeneration zone.
Durkan said: “In the early hours of Friday morning there was an incident involving a crane within our Central Middlesex Hospital construction site on Central Way, in Park Royal.
“There were no injuries and no significant damage to the site. The crane has been dismantled and removed so the area is safe.
“We are working closely with Falcon Cranes and the Health and Safety Executive. We expect to restart construction work in the coming days.”
Last November the luffing jib of another Falcon tower crane collapsed on a residential construction site in Edinburgh.
