The council is seeking works, professional services and traffic signals contractors to deliver a range of highways and infrastructure services across the county.
A highways and infrastructure services term maintenance and works contract will be worth an estimated £500m over 12 years alongside a highways professional services contract worth a further £100m and a traffic signals deal worth around £12m.
The main works contract covers a wide range of services, including highways maintenance, road improvement schemes, bridge works, drainage, grass cutting and road marking.
The contract also allows for the delivery of other infrastructure projects, such as waste facilities, buildings associated with bus interchanges, and flood defence works.
The council is inviting potential bidders to express their interest in the contracts and to participate in one-to-one meetings. The council aims to publish the first contract notice in December 2024. The new contracts are expected to start in April 2026.
Grahame Bygrave, Interim Executive Director of Community and Environmental Services at Norfolk County Council, said: “We are keen to enter into refreshed contractual arrangements that maintain our collaborative approach, deliver best value and minimise disruption to the public.”
The process is being fronted by an experienced team who in recent years procured the Great Yarmouth Third River Crossing, Norwich Western Link and Long Stratton Bypass.
