In his new role, Feakes will lead on developing the discipline of civil and structural engineering across the group.
His responsibilities will include setting the platform for engineering on projects and programmes, supporting design teams with buildability advice, as well as embedding Construction to Production (C2P) and optimising construction engineering and temporary works solutions.
Feakes brings 22 years of consultancy experience including more than 18 years at Ramboll. This stint was broken in the middle by two years at Buro Happold as a group director, acting as commercial sector lead for the Bath region.
He joins Mace as the business ramps up its business strategy delivery, focussing on sustainability, innovation and digital delivery.
Feakes said: “I enjoy thinking outside the box, challenging the conventional for the benefit of projects and clients.
“Great engineering solutions are often the consequence of asking ‘is there a better way?’ and I look forward to helping our team use their skills and curiosity to drive innovation and value across the business.
