Bachy Soletanche rejigs business in new growth plan

Bachy Soletanche has restructured its business into three distinct divisions as part of a new three-year growth plan.

The Lancashire-based geotechnical specialists will operate a regional business, formed of Northern and Southern Divisions, along with a nationwide Projects Division.

The Northern Division, led by Shaun Davison, will specialise in delivering smaller projects, for new and existing clients, throughout the Midlands, Northern England and Scotland.

The Southern Division, with Martin Stanley at the helm, will provide geotechnical engineering for clients across the entire South of England and South Wales.

Headed up by Dominic Lovelock, the Projects Division will focus on substantial geotechnical and civil engineering schemes.

Supporting the three Divisions will be a newly-formed Engineering department. Led by Sivilay Sayavong, the department will be responsible for delivering permanent and temporary works designs, developing effective solutions to complex challenges and bringing new techniques to the UK market.

This team will not only draw upon expertise based in the UK, but also the global strength of the Soletanche Bachy group of companies.

The new organisation forms a key part of a three-year strategy to grow the business with a renewed client focus.

In last reported results for the year ending December 2022, pre-tax profit doubled to £6.3m after revenue jumped by £100m to £222m on the strength of two major HS2 jobs.

Bachy Soletanche managing director Tamas Kaltenbacher said: “We are placing our clients firmly at the heart of the business and are confident that this approach will enable us to provide a better service through offering a more tailored package of solutions.

“This will allow us to diversify our client base, strengthen our position in new geographical areas and sectors, and broaden our offering – including a wider range of solutions and a variation in the scale of contracts that we are able to deliver, from small local schemes to complex multi-disciplinary projects.”
