NG Bailey and TClarke have been confirmed as the two MEP partners for the delivery of the new £4bn Agratas gigafactory in Somerset which will make car batteries for Jaguar Land Rover,

Sir Robert McAlpine is building the first of three major units at the UK’s biggest planned EV battery factory at Bridgwater for Tata-owned Agratas

NG Bailey will provide a full range of mechanical, electrical and plumbing services for the new battery-cell manufacturing facility alongside TClarke with MEP work expected to start on site early next year.

Jonathan Stockton, CEO at NG Bailey, said: “We are delighted to be having such a vital role in this important project, which will have a significant impact on the UK’s ambitions for the decarbonisation of the economy.

“Our talented team have a long track record in delivering projects of this scale and we are looking forward to using our market leading expertise and innovative use of offsite manufacturing to develop a wide range of bespoke solutions which will support the gigafactory in its next phase of development.”

TClarke Group Chief Executive Mark Lawrence said: “Our partnership with Sir Robert McAlpine goes back for almost 100 years already – and so it is great to be collaborating once more as a major partner they trust to deliver landmark complex engineering projects.

“We are also delighted to be collaborating with Agragras who are part of the wider Tata family that includes Jaguar Land Rover, in a project which will by the early 2030s be providing up to 40% of the batteries for UK-manufactured electric vehicles.”

The project will employ 2,100 workers at peak construction, many across Tier 3 and 4 of the supply chain.
