The 60,000 sq ft all-electric building will accommodate some of the University’s most popular courses including podiatry, prosthetics and orthotics, occupational therapy and sports science.
Forming part of the University’s School of Health and Society, the new building will help to develop the next generation of healthcare professionals as well as increase access to health and wellbeing services for the public.
To be built on the Mary Seacole Building car park close to Salford Crescent station, the project will showcase modern construction methods, featuring a concrete façade system fabricated offsite.
Designed by AHR, the project is targeted to achieve BREEAM Excellent and WELL Gold building standards.
Supported by Kier’s in-house utilities team, the enabling works include extensive underground services and drainage diversions to prepare the building site.
Sarah Morton, regional director for Kier Construction North & Scotland, said work is expected to complete by late 2026.
