US firm Grand Heritage Hotel Group has struck a deal with developer Rupert Carr’s Birchall Properties to build the complex known as Peak Resort.
The site, which already includes a golf course and areas of woodland and open countryside, will be at the leading edge of eco-technology.
The investment forms part of a series of deals with US investors worth more than £1.1bn that will be announced during David Cameron’s visit to Washington.
The Peak Resort aims to create a year-round tourism and leisure destination on the edge of the Peak District National Park, comprising 250 holiday lodges, hotel and apart-hotel accommodation.
This will be set within a 300 acre managed park with an 18 hole PGA standard golf course, a 6 hole golf academy.
A centrepiece futuristic Ecodome building will provide indoor climate controlled water sports, spa, covered lawn games and sports medical centre.
