It plans to phase the £20m refurbishment of the historic building over five years, with work starting this summer or autumn.
Old College was built in 1789 and is Grade A listed. It is regarded as the University’s flagship building, and also accommodates the University’s senior management and corporate group.
The refurbishment will retain and restore many of the original features of Old College and create new spaces for teaching, learning and research.
A key element of the 190,000 sq ft building revamp will be to create a new law library, spanning the length of the quadrangle’s west side.
The University project team is led by LDN Architects with Adams Consulting Group handling CDM responsibilities.
Harley Haddow is providing consultant mechanical and electrical services. Sweett is the University cost consultant and Elliot and Company structural engineers.
Further documentation can be obtained from the Public Tenders Scotland website, project Code 3607. Firms have until 26 March to complete PQQs ahead of five firms being shortlisted and an invitation to tender at the start of May.
