Contractor ISG will now start construction in June on the £41m home stadium for York’s professional football and rugby teams including leisure, retail, office and community facilities.
The all-seater community stadium at Jockey Lane, in Huntington will include hospitality and conferencing facilities, a new 25m six-lane swimming pool, fitness and active play facilities and a community hub.
Project Manager, Tim Atkins, said: “This is a hugely important day for the project. The Planning Committee saw what great support this scheme has received from a wide range of different people and organisations in the city.
“We hope this means we can now move forward without delay and begin the most exciting stage of the project: making the stadium a reality.”
