Developer Knight Dragon has selected Mace as the preferred bidder for the next phase of development on Greenwich Peninsula in London.

The project includes the construction of Knight Dragon’s NO205 scheme in the Upper Riverside District, comprising two buildings with 464 apartments.

The two buildings will be the first of a series of towers on the regeneration site’s Upper Riverside district and will have a construction value of £150m.

Upper Riverside, which is set to deliver nearly 1,000 new homes in total, will be one of five distinct new districts created on the peninsula.

It forms part of what is claimed to be the largest single regeneration project the capital has ever seen, creating 15,720 homes, 12,000 jobs, and an entire new district for London on Greenwich Peninsula.

The scheme will include two schools, independent shops bars and restaurants, public squares and parkland, all serviced by the Jubilee Line. The scheme has a gross development value of £8.4billion.

Knight Dragon has already invested £500m in the 150-acre site at Greenwich Peninsula. Some 3,000 homes are already under construction, with 700 due to be completed this autumn.

The new masterplan will also enhance underground and bus links at North Greenwich station to accommodate the new community as it grows and matures over the next 20 years.

Paul Symons, construction director at Knight Dragon, said: “Mace will be providing final proposals over the next eight weeks with a view to entering into a contract for the works in October 2015.”
