The new centre, which will be built on the former UCL student union site located on Huntley Street, will combine services currently provided at the Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Hospital and Eastman Dental Hospital under one roof.

Work will start on the 80,000 sq ft, eight-floor building before the end of the year, and will be the first building managed by the Trust using BIM.

Mace has worked on several complex healthcare projects in the capital including the East Wing cladding project and the Positron Emission Tomography Centre for Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, the refurbishment of Chelsea & Westminster Hospital as well as managing the redesign of UCLH’s A&E department.

The location on Huntley Street means that the centre will be part of the hub of University College Hospital sites.

They include a new surgery and cancer building which will provide Europe’s largest centre for the treatment of blood disorders and one of only two NHS centres delivering high energy proton beam therapy, also opening in 2019.
