The building of new civic offices and the construction of a new school for Campsmount Technology College will offer potential work and business to local workers, suppliers and contractors.

The new civic offices form part of the first phase of Doncaster’s Civic and Cultural Quarter (CCQ) project.

The event takes place at Doncaster Racecourse on Thursday, 13 January 2011.

Visitors will have the chance to meet and discuss requirements with Wates bosses and their key supply chain partners.

Mayor of Doncaster Peter Davies, said: “An important objective during the construction of the Civic and Cultural Quarter is to ensure local people and companies have access to business, work, supply chain and training opportunities. This will be an excellent networking event for anyone working in the construction industry.”

Councillor Jonathan Wood, Cabinet Member for Business and Regeneration, said: “These two building projects with a joint value of more than £30million should be a welcome boost for the local economy. Whether you are a builder or site catering specialist, this event is an opportunity to gain an insight of the potential work packages.”

Doncaster Council’s development partner for the CCQ is Muse Developments.

Project director Michael Broadhead said: “The regeneration of Doncaster town centre is a fantastic opportunity for the local community. This event is just one of the initiatives we have in place to get everyone involved.”
