Durkan is starting work now on the £110m scheme which will provide 354 homes – almost a third of which will be affordable.
Alan Townshend, Group Development Director at Southern Housing Group, said: “As one of the oldest housing associations in the UK we pride ourselves on our commitment to providing homes for people who need them and supporting local communities.
“We’re delighted to partner with Durkan to bring about positive change in Redbridge and deliver much-needed affordable, quality and well-designed homes in this thriving part of London, with excellent transport links and local amenities.
“The delivery of these homes will also mark an important milestone in the Group’s history as they’ll be the first ones we provide in Redbridge.
“We believe the area has a lot of potential and we’ll work to secure further opportunities, helping to meet the local housing demand, in the near future.”
Danny Durkan, Executive Chairman at Durkan, added: “We’re very conscious of delivering a broad mix of affordable housing options for people looking to rent or own property in London and the Home Counties.”
“Our priority is making sure our development partners, like Southern Housing Group, are able to deliver on their commitments and provide long-term value to the communities they operate in.”
The Britannia Music Site will provide a mix of one, two and three-bedroom homes within two buildings, set around a new public courtyard.
