Recent statistics from the Government backed Technology Strategy Board found that a recent funding call attracted more than 200 firms to register but only 20% submitted an application.
The data also showed that very few companies are aware of the funding opportunities available.
The CIOB has now developed an online database for its members to search a wide range of local, national and pan-European research and funding opportunities.
Institute members can now find a suitable funded research opportunity and using a blog, invite collaboration from other members and academia.
Peter Ball, Director of Strategic Research at the BRE and member of the CIOB Innovation and Research panel said: “Knowing the funding is there is only a small part of the challenge.
“Actually having a good idea that fits the “call” and writing a good application is a challenge itself but one which is eminently achievable.”
