He will oversee operations at the £22m revenue Leeds construction firm and take charge of business development as it seeks to expand in the building maintenance and repair market.
Doherty brings over 40 years experience of construction and more than 15 years at Laing O’Rourke.
During his time at Laing O’Rourke, Doherty led delivery of the Leeds Trinity shopping centre and the £75m refit of British Land’s Meadowhall shopping centre in Sheffield.
He joins the firm, which was set up over 50 years ago as a decorating business, as it aims to expand.
In January 2016 Leeds-based building maintenance specialist Parklane Group bought a 50% share of The Broadley Group.
Broadley now specialises in decorating, building maintenance, plumbing services, electrical services and joinery.
Chairman Gary Broadley said: “With the ever-changing business activity and the rapid growth of our business, Dan will lead the operation and commercial teams to help us manage and deliver our current pipeline and future workload.
“Dan brings extensive experience to develop operations and deliver profit from current and future contracts for The Broadley Group.
“His vast experience and knowledge will be essential to help and support the delivery teams and to assist the board in running our business.”
