J3 is a joint venture between Sir Robert McAlpine, Channel Islands contractor Garenne Construction Group, and infrastructure management business FES Group.
The new hospital has secured political approval to be built on the site of the current hospital, in St Helier.
The project team intends to submit an outline planning application in April and to begin work on site by the end of this year.
The Minister for Infrastructure, Deputy Eddie Noel, said: “We are beginning what I believe is a very exciting partnership with J3, working with three family-run businesses which have extensive experience in working on major projects of this type.
“We will be combining the unparalleled local knowledge of the Garenne Construction Group, the engineering expertise of FES Group and the international construction expertise of Sir Robert McAlpine.”
Jersey’s new hospital will have 288 inpatient beds and a range of support services and outpatient clinics.
The first clinical areas in the 50,000 square-metre hospital are due to open in 2022 and the hospital is anticipated to be fully operational by 2024, with the project complete by 2026.
The pre-construction service agreement will cover work in a number of different areas, including:
- Managing the detailed design
- Calculating the target cost and programme
- Planning the site logistics, establishing the supply chain and resources and ensuring the incorporation of modern methods of construction
Sir Robert McAlpine Executive Partner Hector McAlpine said: “This is a tremendously exciting project and one which is of great importance to the people of Jersey.
“The complementary skills and expertise the members of the J3 joint venture bring to this scheme, along with the collaborative ethos established to date, provide a great foundation for success.
“We look forward to building strong relationships with the States of Jersey and the local community as the scheme progresses.”
