Centre piece of the scheme is a new six-lane toll bridge over the River Mersey.
Steve Nicholson, Mersey Gateway Project Director, said: “This event was about us talking and listening to major suppliers from the UK and europe that have the capability to be part of the main contracting organisation we are seeking for Mersey Gateway.
“We were delighted by the level of interest shown and very encouraged by the quality of organisations that attended.”
Cllr Rob Polhill, Leader of Halton Borough Council, said: “It is important to remember that this project will create opportunities for smaller, more local businesses as well.
“We will shortly be writing to all businesses who have registered with us as potential suppliers with details of events later this year which will give them an opportunity to hear how they can get involved.”
The full procurement process for the Mersey Gateway Project is expected to begin in spring once the detail of the agreed funding package for the project is confirmed with the Government.
It is anticipated that construction work will start within two years, and that the new bridge will take around three years to complete.
