Beginning in March, the Anglian Water Programme Partner Civil and MEICA contracts cover the whole Anglian Water region and will run for three years.

The £20m package of work involves asset upgrade, maintenance and enhancement of water treatment and waste water treatment facilities.

May Gurney has also expanded its existing long-term relationship with South West Water to be the sole contractor for developer services, mains laying and water rehabilitation.

The four-year deal is valued at up to £23m, with a possible extension of a further six years.

May Gurney chief executive, Philip Fellowes-Prynne (pictured), said that the firm’s order book had swelled  to £1.4bn and the sales pipeline looked more than £4bn.

Contract renewals, extensions and new long-term contracts have been won totalling more than £245m in the second half-year, bringing the total work secured for the full year to £345m.

He said: “It’s been a strong and successful year for May Gurney with exceptional levels of new contract mobilisations and bidding, together with our entry into the Scottish support services market through the acquisition of Turriff.”

May Gurney said the closure of its non-core geotechnical and piling businesses, would result in an exceptional cost of £1.9m when it reports its results in June.
