The frame and window pane fell from the penthouse apartment of the Corniche building in Vauxhall.
Apartments cost up to £6.25m in the tower on the Albert Embankment which was completed by Berkeley Group subsidiary St James last July.
St James said it has launched an urgent investigation into the incident.
Victim Mick Ferris, 53, was a coach driver who was walking back towards his vehicle when he was hit by the window which fell 250ft.
Police said he was pronounced dead at the scene.
