Dudley College of Technology will build its new £26m Institute of Transformational Technologies using the Integrated Project Insurance (IPI) model.

The college has assembled an Alliance Partnership between Speller Metcalfe, Derry Building Services, Fulcro, Cullinan Studio Architects, Cundall and GCA Consulting to deliver the scheme.

The institute will be the college’s second project to be delivered using the innovative IPI approach.

It follows the successful completion of Advance II which was the UK’s first IPI project at Dudley College of Technology in 2017.

IPI involves a collaborative working contract that sees all members of the integrated project team selected at the project’s inception to form an interdisciplinary ‘alliance board’ that are insured together under a single loss-based insurance product.

The model supports innovation by aligning the team around cost, time and quality, promoting a culture of mutual trust, no blame/no claim and allowing freedom for decisions to be made on a best for project basis.

The whole scheme will be facilitated by IPInitiatives who developed and own the Integrated Project Insurance product.

A joint statement from IPInitiatives and Dudley College of Technology, said: “The IPI Model works to bring a truly collaborative team together with no contractual or insurance barriers and we are looking forward to getting the “best for project” result for the Institute, for employers and for the region.”
