At least West Ham have spared me the rollercoaster ride of relegation Sunday by securing their place at the foot of the table a week early.
I should be more angry with the whole manager/management farce at the club but the whole debacle has left me strangely ambivalent.
The line-up of fixtures next season certainly seems a bit short on glamour.
But the club needs a clean sweep of under-performers and a spell in the Championship might be the first step on the road to recovery.
At least things are never dull at Upton Park. Our end of season dinner was certainly eventful and every manager to ever don a sheepskin is being linked with Avram Grant’s vacant seat.
Ah Avram. It seems he won’t be out of work long with Chelsea keen to install him in a “technical” role.
Words fail me. But if Avram could work his magic on some more of our London rivals I’d be delighted.
The relegation crunch games look too close to call so let’s look elsewhere and take advantage of the fact that Arsenal are a total shambles.
Arsene Wenger’s men aren’t just thinking of the beach at the moment – they are playing like they are already wearing snorkel and flippers.
But the bookies are still pricing up the Gunners as if they were the team of two months ago rather than the disjointed wreck staggering to the season’s close.
Arsenal make the short trip to Craven Cottage where Fulham have a decent home record and can be backed at a very attractive 13/5.
It’s a nothing game in terms of the league but could be very lucrative for punters.
Surely Wenger will get his hands in his pocket this summer to bolster the squad and it seems like a few of the team know they are on borrowed time and will hardly be busting a gut on Sunday.
Good luck to all those fighting to avoid the drop and keep an ear out for some good news from Craven Cottage to buy the celebratory bubbly or commiserating can of Carling.
