The 14504 is McFour’s 13th machine from the Austrian manufacturer and joins the firm’s 25-strong fleet of tracked and wheeled excavators ranging in size from 1.2 to 50 tonne which are used throughout the country on a variety of civil engineering projects.

Owner Dave McDermott said: “We have been very pleased with the digging performance and quality of Wacker Neuson machines ever since we took delivery of a 12 tonne unit back in 2002.

“The new 15 tonner is an impressive piece of kit and has a comprehensive specification which includes an offset boom facility – the deal clincher on this occasion.”

The 14504 is one of very few machines in this weight category to offer both a dozer blade and an offset boom as standard equipment which McFour particularly likes because it enables the machine to be used safely on jobs where space is at a premium.

McFour has opted for 600 mm wide steel tracks fitted with rubber pads in order to protect sensitive surfaces. Beddoes has also fitted a Prolec Liftwatch 5 system which incorporates slew and height restrictors as well as a rear camera and extra mirrors.

As soon as the machine was delivered it went straight out to work on the Highway Agency’s 28 km long, A46 Newark to Widmerpool  improvement project where McFour has a contract with Balfour Beatty to install storm drains and interceptor tanks.
