The company will take over the highways service provision, from current provider Bam Nuttall, on 6 October and deliver savings of more than £1m per year.

The new contract covers highways management, design and maintenance services including street lighting.

Verge maintenance and development management are currently excluded from the scope and the term of the contract is 5 years with the opportunity to extend for a further 2 years.

The framework deal was secured against stiff competition from Bam Nuttall and Enterprise/Mouchel.

The council stipulated that the winning bidder would be able to offer consultancy advice regarding waste and environmental assessments.
