The strong performance saw the UK operations contribute more to Dutch construction group Royal BAM’s profit than any other trading region, including its chief home market.
Royal BAM chief executive Rob van Wingerden said the UK has performed strongly in 2018 despite Brexit uncertainty.
UK pre-tax profit jumped 80% to £51m on revenue up 3% to £1.66bn.
The strong performance in the UK and Ireland helped to offset margin erosion in Royal BAM’s Dutch market.
Overall the group reported pre-tax profit of £100m after taking into account restructuring costs and writedowns. Revenue rose 10% to £6.3bn.
